​​By being baptized with water, a believer publicly identifies with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

 

Baptism is also a concrete way for believers to demonstrate their obedience to Jesus’ command and profess faith in Him publicly (Matthew 28:19). We believe that baptism is not essential for salvation, but an important first step of obedience.
