A Miracle in the Lobby Last Sunday

Last Sunday I got to do something that reminded me of what it’s all about. 

I introduced Phil and Tess to each other for the first time. They are newer believers, both recently saved at The Door Church. They are on fire and want everyone to know Jesus. 

As they greeted each other, I remembered that just a short time ago they were both dead in their sins. BUT GOD, being rich in mercy, gave them new life in Christ (Ephesians 2:1-6)! Jesus used the Door Church to bring the gospel to them. Now their life and eternity are changed forever. 

They are sharing Christ with others and inviting them to church. They are disciples making disciples. They are the “found” seeking the “lost”. They are light shining in the darkness. Like the rescued demoniac in Mark 5, they can’t keep it to themselves. They want everyone to hear the news.  

That lobby moment was special because it's a small snapshot of what's happening throughout the church. God is changing lives one moment at a time. Every gathering, every kids lesson, every student small group, every financial gift, every baptism, every small group meeting, every prayer, every coffee conversation is another moment of gospel transformation and multiplication. 

This is why we exist: to bring good news to people of all ages who are one moment away from meeting Jesus. Do you remember that moment for you, when Jesus opened your eyes and flooded your heart with light? 

We’re serious about making heaven really crowded. The love of Christ makes it this way. We plead, implore, and urge because Jesus is still saving sinners. The church is growing. Heaven’s getting more crowded. But, there’s still more room. The mission isn’t over. 

You and I are God’s “Plan A” for spreading the good news. There is no “Plan B”. Who do you know that’s one moment away from meeting Jesus? Pray for their salvation. Invite them to church. Ask them what they think about Jesus. Tell them the best news ever: there is a Savior who loves them, died for their sins, and rose again to make them right with God. Be a mat carrier, and bring your friend to Jesus (Mark 2:3-5).
