Don't Sabotage Your Faith

This past weekend, we celebrated 19 baptisms at TDC! Each baptism tells a powerful story, a life transformed by Jesus Christ. Every person going under that water testifies that Jesus saves sinners who were once separated from God and destined for destruction.
Praise the Lord for the great salvation found in Christ alone!
There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
But here’s the truth: when God rescues you, He doesn’t just save you from something; He saves you for something. You’ve been rescued to join the rescue team.
Get in the Game
Imagine escaping from a burning building because someone showed you the way out. You get outside, you can finally breathe, but then you see others still trapped inside. Would you just walk away? Of course not! You’d join the rescue team and do whatever you could to help others find THE WAY out, too.
That’s exactly what it means to get in the game! Once you’ve been reconciled to God through Christ, you are now a minister of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18–20). You’ve been brought into God’s family, not just to sit on the sidelines, but to help others find the same hope and freedom you’ve found in Jesus.
One of your primary purposes after becoming a Christian is to share the only Door that leads out of sin, destruction, and eternal separation from God.
So start simple: Be bold about the light you now carry.
Live a Life That Points to Jesus
Jesus said, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”(Matthew 5:16)
Sin is choosing to live life on your own terms, to be your own master. It’s when we center life around ourselves rather than God. It could look like chasing status, comfort, money, reputation, sports, kids, or hobbies, all forms of idolatry.
But when you meet Jesus, everything changes. The Holy Spirit gives you a new affection, a desire to live for Jesus instead of yourself. You begin surrendering every area of life to Him.
Here’s what that looks like:
Time – Instead of always protecting “me time,” you prioritize serving others and being part of your church family.
Money – You use your resources to bless others and give your first fruits to the Lord.
Body – You see your body as a gift from God to steward for His glory.
Sex – You view sex not as identity or self-expression, but as a sacred gift to be shared in the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman.
Words – You choose to speak life, not gossip or tear others down.
Attitude – You reject a victim mindset and live as someone blessed to be a blessing.
Sin – You don’t justify sin; you confess and repent when you fall short.
Forgiveness – You forgive others freely because Christ forgave you.
Kids – You love your children not as idols to control or protect at all costs, but as little image-bearers who need the grace of Jesus just like you do.
When you center your life around Jesus and surrender your ways to Him, your light shines naturally. People around you will see the difference, feel the aroma of Christ, and notice the peace, joy, and love that can’t be found anywhere else.
And when they do, give them Jesus. Share your story. Invite them to church.
Don’t sabotage your faith by blending in with the world or hiding what God has done for you. The world doesn’t need more self-help or success stories, it needs the Savior.
So step into the mission. You’ve been rescued to join the rescue team. Live, love, and share in a way that helps others find the only true treasure in this life and the next, Jesus Christ.
