Re:Generation

By the grace of God, The Door Church is in the early stages of launching a recovery & care ministry called Re:generation. When I tell people about a TDC Recovery ministry, a typical response I get is, “that is so wonderful, there are so many struggling people out there who really need freedom from addiction and sinful habits!”

This is true, and yet we often skip over the reality that we ALL are in recovery from sin - not just the people “out there.” Addiction and sinful behavior is always indicative of a deeper heart problem that always requires the same medicine - JESUS! Too often, “church people” struggle with secret sin and miss out on the joy of walking in the light because we often fear exposure more than we fear the Lord.

The problem with hiding behind masks in front of each other is that people get to know your mask, but they don’t really know you. We run from vulnerability with each other as a symptom of our flesh’s desire to hide from God. But the reality is that God already knows you and your struggles. You are fully known and fully loved in Christ. Jesus already saw you at your worst and counted it joy to give His life for you:

“...but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.” - Romans 5:8-10 ESV

So what is the Re:generation program? Re:generation is a 12-Step Biblical Discipleship ministry providing life transformation and freedom from every kind of sin struggle through intimacy with Christ and Gospel-centered, authentic community. Re:Gen is structured with daily lessons and weekly small group meetings broken out by gender. Simply put, it’s deep, heart-level discipleship. The program curriculum is not magical. Re:Gen does not change our hearts. The program curriculum points us to Scripture, and it is God who changes us through His Word, His Spirit, and His people.

How can Re:generation help you? The drug addict, the people-pleaser, & the successful businessperson not only deal with many of the same underlying idols, but they also face an environment that promotes covering up their idols with non-stop noise and distractions - this is deadly! While we often feel distracted, unintentional, and emotionally distant from God's Word, Re:gen provides a framework for systematic biblical application in our lives, regardless of our spiritual maturity. As participants walk through these 12 steps, Biblical Theology becomes practical Biblical Application...and when this happens, participants in Re:gen experience powerful Biblical Transformation!
