Your Impact Is Bigger Than You Believe

We are wrapping up “Summit Season” at The Door Church. In early August we ascended to the mountain top to see where we’re going. In our current sermon series, we are calling every member of TDC to a life that is (1) Gospel Centered (diet), (2) Community Driven (rest), and (3) Other People Focused (exercise).

One thing never changes, your flesh wants life to be about you, but it’s not. Jesus saved you to send you to serve others - to live life for God and others. We are justified by grace so that we can serve others in the home, in the church, and in the world. During the Summit Season we are calling all members of TDC to commit to serving in a TDC ministry.

Every Member Matters

In Ephesians 4:15-16, Paul writes, "we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ." He continues, "from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love." This passage paints a powerful picture. The church, like a human body, is a living organism in which every single part matters.

Just as a nerve ending or a single muscle fiber contributes to the overall function of your arm, your unique role—whether it's teaching, hospitality, giving, mercy, administration, —is a necessary part of the body's growth and health. When you commit to serving with your gifts, you’re helping the body grow in size, maturity, and love. Your service has an immediate and eternal impact, and it glorifies Christ.

Commitment to Growth

Paul's emphasis on "when each part is working properly" implies the importance of our active participation, proper function, and steadfast commitment to serve the body. We all have time, talent, treasure, and we should all commit to using them to reach lost people and build the church. This is a conscious choice to serve in love, building up those around you. Your commitment to service, no matter how small it may seem to you, is vital to God’s purposes. It’s through your faithful service and contributions that the lost are saved and the body grows. Incredible! So, don't let your gifts lie dormant. Whatever God has given you—your time, talent, treasure—they are for the building of Jesus’ church for Jesus’ glory.
