Community...What's in it for Me?

“You need to be in community” is a phrase you often hear in church. But why is it so crucial? What’s the real purpose behind it? I’m a big “why” person—if you can’t tell me why, my motivation drops, and I’m out!
Instead of diving into a lengthy theological discussion, let’s break down why community is vital and how it directly benefits you.
The goal is Jesus, not you—but you will absolutely gain from it!
We come together in a Christ-centered community to be shaped into the image of Jesus—to think like Him, act like Him, speak like Him, and love like Him. This is what you need—and what the world desperately needs: more of Jesus.
So, what’s in it for me? Let’s break it down:
Beliefs: In a world full of noise, how do you know what’s true? Every day, we’re bombarded with information—how do you discern what’s real? Being in community helps you filter through God’s Word, the ultimate truth, in a world that often serves up fake news. What you believe shapes how you live, and God’s Word is the power that transforms us.
Identity: Who are you? What’s your worth? Why do you matter? In a culture that constantly throws identity crises our way, we need reminders of who we are in Christ. Our culture bombards us with lies, but in community, we get to reaffirm our true identity in Jesus.
Need: It’s not if we sin, but when we sin. We all struggle, and we need a place to confess, find healing, and experience Christ’s love and forgiveness. Sin thrives in secrecy, but when we confess it within a supportive community, we rob Satan of his greatest weapon: guilt and shame. Many Christians suffer in isolation, letting sin take root and become a stronghold in their lives.
In short: We need Jesus. We need each other. Get into Biblical Community – as if your life depends on it, because it does!
Christ is all,
